Combating Japanese knotweed with thermal remediation

18 January 2021

Japanese knotweed, an unobtrusive herbaceous plant. It seems to vanish every winter, but it returns with every spring. Bigger and stronger. Above ground, it is an unassuming growth. Below ground, it is a genuine invader. There is no way to keep the roots at bay. The result is damage to buildings, cables and pipelines, and roads. At the same time, it drives out indigenous plant species.

These things are undesirable, so huge efforts are made to get rid of the plant. However, putting Japanese knotweed into the normal biodegradable waste is not permitted. The plant just keeps on growing in the container among the other waste.

The perfect processing method

We are not only able to process contaminated soil and tar asphalt granulate (TAG) lots in every combination, but also soil containing Japanese knotweed.

Thermal remediation of this exotic invasive species guarantees its complete destruction.
